Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to drive our core infrastructure operations, lead server OS migration initiatives, and support our strategic transition from Azure to GCP.
This role balances high-level cloud architecture and networking with hands-on Windows Server OS troubleshooting, host-level migrations, and system upgrades. The ideal candidate possesses strong multi-cloud exposure, deep Wintel administration expertise, and the ability to serve as a primary technical escalation point for both cloud infrastructure and legacy OS environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Server OS Administration & Legacy Upgrades
- Host-Level OS Upgrades: Lead in-place and side-by-side OS upgrades for legacy systems (e.g., Windows Server 2012 to 2016 / 2019 / 2022) with minimal business downtime.
- Troubleshooting & Escalations: Serve as the primary escalation point for severe Windows/Wintel OS-level issues, performance bottlenecks, patch management, and server debugging.
- Hybrid Operations: Oversee on-premises to cloud server integrations, including active directory, Entra ID, DNS, and server-level security compliance.
2. Cloud Infrastructure & Migration (Azure to GCP)
- Cross-Cloud Migration: Execute server and workload migration strategies moving away from Azure toward Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including pre-migration assessment, dependency mapping, and cutover execution.
- Landing Zone & Network Engineering: Maintain and configure hub-and-spoke topologies, Landing Zones (supporting 200+ workloads), IPSec tunnels (Barracuda VPN, cross-cloud routing), VNet/VPC configurations, and Application Gateways.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate compute, networking, and storage provisioning using Terraform.
3. Systems Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitoring Tooling: Support operational monitoring workflows and assist in transitioning infrastructure monitoring into Zabbix.
- Cost Optimization: Continuously evaluate cloud infrastructure costs, implementing right-sizing, disk tier adjustments (Premium to Standard SSD), and reservation strategies across dev, staging, and production environments.
Professional Qualifications
Core Experience & Technical Skills
- 8–12+ Years Experience: Proven track record in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, and cloud operations.
- Windows Server / Wintel Expertise: Strong host-level Windows Server administration (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022), Active Directory / Entra ID, group policies, patching, and OS upgrades.
- Multi-Cloud Capability: Hands-on experience with Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Must not be strictly locked into Azure; should possess a mindset toward multi-cloud migration and GCP adoption.
- Hybrid Networking: Deep knowledge of IPSec VPN tunneling, Route Tables, VNet/VPC peering, Application Gateways, and cross-cloud connectivity.
- Infrastructure Automation: Proficiency in Terraform for declarative infrastructure deployment.
- Linux & Monitoring Knowledge: Solid understanding of Linux environments and hands-on exposure to enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Datadog).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience executing Azure-to-GCP or On-Premises-to-GCP migrations.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or strong Linux server administration background.
- Certifications in GCP Professional Cloud Architect.
- Direct experience with desktop virtualization technologies (Azure VDI, Citrix, FSLogix).
Key Candidate Attributes
- Hands-on Troubleshooter: Willing and capable of digging into server-level OS issues as well as cloud-level service bugs.
- Adaptable & Forward-Looking: Flexible with technology transitions (moving off legacy Azure environments into GCP).
- Reliable Escalation Owner: Able to lead root-cause analysis (RCA) and support critical P1/P2 operational needs.
