Role Overview
We are looking for a Network Automation Engineer (SolarWinds Specialist) with strong hands-on experience in SolarWinds Orion platform, network monitoring, configuration management, and automation scripting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for enhancing network operations by automating manual processes, improving monitoring capabilities, and implementing self-healing network workflows.
The role requires expertise in SolarWinds NCM, NPM, NTA, Orion SDK, SWIS API, Python/PowerShell scripting, and network automation to build scalable, secure, and efficient network management solutions.
Key Responsibilities
SolarWinds Administration & Automation
- Manage and optimize the SolarWinds Orion monitoring platform, including NCM, NPM, and NTA modules.
- Design and implement automation workflows using SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager (NCM).
- Develop automated configuration backup, compliance checks, reporting, and remediation processes.
- Create and maintain configuration templates, policies, and scheduled jobs for network devices.
- Utilize SolarWinds Orion SDK / SWIS API for monitoring and automation enhancements.
Network Automation & Scripting
- Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible to streamline network operations.
- Automate routine network tasks such as:
- Device configuration changes
- Compliance validation
- Configuration backups
- Inventory updates
- Alert-based remediation
- Integrate SolarWinds APIs with external systems for workflow automation.
- Develop scripts for troubleshooting, monitoring, and self-healing network activities.
Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Configure and manage SolarWinds alerts, dashboards, and performance monitoring.
- Analyze network performance metrics and troubleshoot issues across enterprise networks.
- Utilize PerfStack and NetPath for network visibility and performance analysis.
- Monitor routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices in multi-vendor environments.
Integration & Reporting
- Integrate SolarWinds with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar tools.
- Develop automated ticket creation and incident workflows based on monitoring events.
- Create custom reports and dashboards using SQL/SWQL queries.
- Maintain accurate network inventory and monitoring data.
Platform Optimization & Documentation
- Perform SolarWinds platform health checks and optimize polling performance.
- Manage Additional Polling Engines (APE) and SolarWinds database performance.
- Document automation workflows, scripts, SOPs, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to network operations teams.
