Job Summary
The Lead Data Support Engineer is responsible for overseeing the stability, availability, and performance of data platforms and pipelines across the organization. This role combines technical expertise with leadership capabilities to ensure efficient data operations, timely issue resolution, and continuous improvement of data systems. The position plays a critical role in supporting business-critical data workflows, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving best practices in data reliability and support.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day support and maintenance of data platforms, ETL pipelines, and data integration workflows Monitor data systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues across databases, pipelines, and reporting layers
- Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure seamless data operations.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes Perform root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes for recurring issues Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all systems.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, runbooks, and SOPs Mentor and guide junior team members, providing technical leadership and support
- Drive process improvements, automation, and optimization initiatives within data operations
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide production support as required.
Profile Description
- Strong experience in data engineering support, production support, or data operations roles Proficiency in SQL and working with relational and/or NoSQL databases Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline frameworks
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or similar Familiarity with monitoring tools, logging systems, and incident management practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience in handling production incidents and performing root cause analysis Leadership & Collaboration Proven ability to lead and mentor teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple issues simultaneously
- Educational Background Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
